About the Writer

Kimberly Valenta, MD

 

Kimberly Valenta is a freelance physician-writer based in Dallas, Texas. She holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Mount Holyoke College and a medical degree from Northwestern University. Upon completion of her residency training in anesthesiology, she joined the faculty at Stanford University Medical School where she cared for patients, taught medical students and residents, and served in hospital administration.

In 2020, Kimberly began writing about health, medicine, and science for general and professional audiences. She has a Certificate in Medical Writing and Editing from the University of Chicago and serves as the director-at-large for the Dallas chapter of the American Medical Writing Association. She is passionate about health literacy and medical education.
